Margaret Gandy, Esq

Margaret is an award-winning lawyer and investigator who brings more than 17 years of diverse investigative, trial and appellate experience to Alcalaw. A decisive and legally savvy problem solver, Margaret leads with authenticity and compassion to provide personalized guidance to clients.

Margaret started her career at the New York County District Attorney’s Office where she served in the Rackets Bureau. Margaret went on to become a federal prosecutor at the United States Attorney Office for the Eastern District of New York where she was appointed Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime and Gang section. Margaret has conducted a wide range of complex investigations and tried dozens of felony cases. These have involved racketeering enterprises engaged in serious acts of violence, sex trafficking, corruption, white collar crime, production of child pornography, fraud, international drug trafficking and terrorism.

Margaret’s commitment to employing a humanistic approach to law dates back to law school where she served as President of the Equal Justice Foundation and was awarded the Shapiro Public Service Fellowship, which allowed her to serve the legal needs of domestic violence victims through a not-for-profit organization that provided holistic services.

Margaret received a JD with Honors from The George Washington University Law School and a BA from Duke University.
